  • Furniture-now is a great time to downsize and take furniture that is in great shape and enough to make it your home, but not enough to make it cluttered
  • Medications-an important item to remember if you are moving, the community may not take your medications from home, make sure if they will be managing your medications to ask this question, and then only refill what you need to until they manage.  If they do take medications from home, make sure you ask if they can be opened for those over the counter items such as Tylenol, Tums, etc.
  • Personal items-don’t forget as well as all your toiletries, most do not supply toilet paper, kleenex, towels, washcloths, bring everything you would need in your own home
  • Kitchen items-depending on if you have a kitchenette or not, bring a set of glasses, coffee cups, plates, and silverware.  If you have a microwave, any dishes you would use in the microwave.  Remember, if you do get meals delivered to your new apartment, you silverware or glassware may get sent back to the kitchen by mistake, so don’t bring any valuable items that can’t be replaced.
  • Clothing-all clothing you would need for at least one weeks time, depending how often you wash/dry your clothing
  • Bedding-you supply your own bedding just as you would in your own home, it is good to have an additional sheet/blanket set while one might be washed, there is a replacement, 3 is always a great idea
  • Towels-enough for at least a week’s time, depending how often you wash
  • Personal items-make sure your decorate as you would in your home, bringing your favorite photos to hang, art work, jewelry (I would not bring anything you think if very valuable unless you have a safe) but as always, if you are moving into a community you have to remember that theft does happen, if it is valuable and not replaceable, maybe give to one of your kin.
